Open letter from Bob Stevenson
Here's the text of an open letter from Stevens County Commissioner Bob Stevenson to county residents announcing his plan to retire from the board:
After serving as Stevens County Commissioner for 40 years, I've decided to retire from local government when my term expires this year. I have officially withdrawn as a candidate for office and I will not run for re-election this fall.
It has been a great privilege to serve this community, and I'm deeply honored by the trust you placed in me over the past four decades. Together, we've confronted many difficult problems and made many tough decisions. Together, we've been state leaders on issues as diverse as health care, agricultural policy, water resources, and regional planning. Together, we've accomplished many good things for our county, our region, and our state.
Many challenges lie ahead for Stevens County, but I step aside with confidence in our citizens, our leaders and our future.
With warm regards,
Stevens County Commissioner, Fifth District
