In the opening round they were matched up against Yellow Medicine East and won 32-17.

"The girls looked fundamentally sound and showed a ton of heart and hustle the entire game," said coach Jodi Holleman. "YME has a great team this year, so it was an excellent way to start the day."

In the second round, the Lady Owls were matched up against New London-Spicer and lost by a score of 29-37.

NL-S came out and hit three treys at the beginning of the game to take the lead and the Owls were never quite able to close the gap. They also missed a ton of shots in the paint and struggled breaking down/penetrating NLS's 2-3 zone. Offensively, Kendra Schmidgall played a great game. Aria Walstad took excellent care of the basketball, and Courtney Greiner ripped down a team high seven board.

"I was very pleased that we only had eight turnovers in this game," said Holleman.

The Lady Owls were matched up against Lakeview for the third place honors. Hancock won this game by a score of 42-29.

The Owls looked outstanding from start to finish. They got the presses going early and scored a lot of buckets in transition. They also had a nice balanced scoring attack with Illissa Koehl leading the way with 13 points. Kendra Schmidgall lead the rebounding with eight, while Lauren Nelson dished out three assists to lead the way.

"Overall, I was really pleased with the performance of all of the girls," commented Holleman. "We are going to be very deep next year which will allow us to utilize all of our presses the entire game."

The Lady Owls will be hosting a Pacesetter tournament on Saturday, June 26, at UMM.
