Owls boy's basketball season preview
The Hancock boys basketball team opened its season on Nov. 22 when the first practice of the season was held.
Seventeen student-athletes make up the varsity and B-squad teams. They have hit the hardwood to begin boy's hoops at Hancock. Coach Cory Bedel enters his first season as head coach of the Owls.
The Owls return two starters from last year. Dylan Reese, a senior guard, and Nick Marczack, a senior forward/center. The Owls will have a young team, which brings many spots to fill, but with much dedication and hard work the team hopes to make up for the inexperience.
The Owls attended a pre-season scrimmage at West Central Area to begin the season. They will play the Benson Braves in Benson on Dec. 7 with a tough schedule for the year to follow.
The team consists of three seniors: Dylan Reese, Nick Marczack and Quincy Carter; seven juniors: Bryan Shaw, Collin Cunningham, Austin Steege, Michells Algarate, Brady Koehl, Jeffrey Peterson and Daniel Lonneman; four sophmores: Jordan Miller, Jerrid Jepma, Levi Carter and Maverick Wolf; and three freshmen: Taylor Holleman, Ross Ascheman and Patrick Koehl. Assistant coaches are Chad Rohloff and Brandon Welle.
