Parade of Lights will kickoff with new downtown decorations
Morris Minnesota 607 Pacific Avenue 56267

MORRIS -- The Morris Area Chamber of Commerce is celebrating the 13th annual Grand Parade of Lights on Thursday, Nov. 14.

This year, the parade will have some special additions: new holiday lights and decorations for Morris’ main street thanks to fundraising with the Community Pride Project.

The new lights and community Christmas tree will be unveiled as part of a recognition and celebration ceremony taking place at 5:45 p.m. in downtown Morris on the 600-block of Atlantic Avenue. The ceremony will include recognizing all the businesses and individuals who made the new holiday decorations a reality, as well as celebrating the progress of the entire Community Pride Project.

At 6 p.m. the ceremonial switch will be thrown, lighting up Atlantic Avenue just as the Grand Parade of Lights begins.

Also new this year is the Candy Cane Dash – a fun run for kids, adults, students, seniors – that will take place immediately prior to the parade. There will be a short dash from Cenex North to the new community christmas tree between Hoffman Realty and McGinnis Appliance for the kids and seniors and a 1K dash down Atlantic Avenue from Cenex North to Peterson Funeral Home and back up Atlantic to the Christmas tree for the “runners” will take place at 5:45 p.m. There will be candy cane treats and hot beverages for all the runners/walkers, and a prize for the best “holiday spirit running attire.” More information is available by contacting the Chamber.

The Chamber’s Retail Committee has set a goal of making this the largest parade in the community’s history in honor of the new holiday decor, so all businesses, organizations, schools and others from throughout Stevens County are encouraged to participate in the “Grandest Parade of Lights” yet.

Registration forms may be picked up at the Chamber office. They are also available online at http://www.morrismntourism.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/13-reg-form.pdf.

Let your lights shine at this grand kick-off event to the holiday season.
