Personal bests highlight regional meet

The University of Minnesota, Morris men and women's cross country team competed at the Central Regional Championships Saturday, Nov 16, in Northfield. The women finished in 20th place and the men took 23rd.
The women were led by Amanda Peters who finished in 56th place with a time of 23:54.9. This time was Peters' personal best on the season; beating her time of 23:55 at the BluGold Invitational on Oct. 4.
Following Peters was Rachel Wingenbach who finished in 90th while running a 24:21.9. This was also a personal best for Wingenbach.
Other notables for the Cougars include: Laura Borkenhagen (25:11.9, 131st place), Nicole Deziel (25:25.6, 139th place), and Tanna Boyle (25:36.3).
On the men's side, the Cougars were led by Chalmer Combellick who finished in 43rd place. He finished with a 26:23.9, which ties his personal best. This also ties Morris' 8K record that Combellick set at the St. Olaf Meet in September.
Coming in second for the Cougars was Caleb Schneider who ran a 28:37.3 and finished in 134th place.
Other notables for the men include: Kyle Billet (29:20.5, 148th place), Charles Abraham (29:37.8, 158th place), and Declan McCrory (28.38.2, 159th place).
Saturday was the last meet for the Cougars distance runners until the beginning of the Indoor Track & Field season in January. With many records broken during the Cross Country season, many more will hopefully fall in the indoor season.
