Picht has hat trick in Storm's upset win over Luverne

Morris Benson Area upset Luverne and snapped the Cardinals’ nine-game winning streak with a 4-2 victory Saturday.

The Storm have won seven of their last eight games and improve to 10-7 overall and 5-3 in Southwest Conference action.

Tanner Picht opened the scoring on assists from Mac Beyer and Gimberlin, then added a second goal to give the Storm a 2-1 lead in the second period on an assist from Andrew Rentz.

Gimberlin put the Storm up 3-1 on assists from Jordan Staples and Taner Gimberlin later in the second. Luverne pulled within a goal early in the third, but Picht iced the final with a hat trick on a short-handed goal in the third.

Storm goalie Kyle Kennedy stopped 19 shots in the net.
