Post 29 opens District 7 Final Four at Montevideo

    The Morris American Legion Post 29 was 3-0 to win the Region 1 championship and advance to play in the District 7 tournament this week in Montevideo.    Post 29 will play Madison Tuesday night in Montevideo to open the District 7 Final Four.

    Mac Beyer tossed a complete game two-hitter and added a solo home run to lead Post 29 to a 7-0 win over Brandon-Evansville in the Region 1 Legion baseball tournament Saturday at Chizek Field.

    Beyer walked one and struck out six over seven innings as Morris won a fifth game in a row and improved to 15-2 on the season.

    Beyer added two hits and drove in two runs. He hit a two-out solo home run in the fifth as Post 29 went on to score three runs in the inning.

    Lincoln Berget had three hits and drove in two runs and Chandler Erickson added two hits.

    Morris scored nine runs in the first two innings on the way to a 9-2 win over Brandon-Evansville in the championship of the District 7, Region 1 tournament Sunday at Chizek Field.

    Bryce Jergenson had two hits and drove in two runs in the first two frames. Tanner Picht had a two-run double in the second and Mac Beyer and Chandler Erickson had rbi singles in the second.

    Beyer ended the game with three hits and scored twice. Tyler Henrichs and Jergenson had two hits each. Picht, Erickson and Rentz had the other hits for Post 29.

    Jacob Torgerson went the distance for Morris on the hill. He allowed five hits, two runs, one earned with no walks and eight strike outs in seven innings.

    Zach Carlson of Brandon-Evansville had two hits.
