The Morris Area / Chokio-Alberta softball program started its busy seven-game week with two wins, third and fourth in a row for the Tigers. On Monday, MA/C-A hosted the Wildcats from New London-Spicer, cleaning house to take the game in five innings at 20-3. The Tigers were in Melrose on Tuesday, battling the Dutchmen and came out on top, thanks to a seventh inning rally to put Tigers ahead 12-5.

The Tigers are now 4-1 and travel to Sauk Centre on Thursday before hosting their annual tournament this Saturday.

Morris/C-A 20, NLS 3

The Tigers scored nine runs in the bottom of the first, which included a three-run homerun by junior Lauren Reimers, who finished with six RBI total. The Tigers had seven hits in the 20-3 win over NL-S on Monday night in Morris.

Becca Holland smacked a three-run double in the Tigers’ third to increase their lead to 19.

The Tigers’ Kayla Pring got the win, allowing just one hit in three innings pitched and striking out four.

Trailing by a run entering their final at bat, the Tigers (4-1) rallied with an eight-run seventh inning to overcome the Dutchmen on Tuesday.

Reimers was 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI, and Abbie Olson and Holland both had two hits. Holland drove in two runs and Olson one, and Brooke Johnson also singled in two runs.

Brianna Abril was credited for the W on the mound, pitching just over three innings, allowing two hits and striking out five.
