Practice gets under way for fall sports

All Morris Area High School fall athletics begin Monday, August 11. The following are times and locations for each specific sport and grade level.

Morris Area/ Minnewaska/Chokio-Alberta girls' swimming and diving practice for grades 7-12 will meet at 8 a.m. at the RFC competition pool. Bring suits and be ready to swim. A swimmer must have passed level three of swimming lessons. Any change in time will be announced on KMRS/KKOK.

Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta girls' cross country and MAHS boys' cross country for grades 7-12 will begin at 9 a.m. Meet at the front door in the foyer area of Morris Area High School. Be ready to start running.

Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta girls' tennis practice for grades 7-12 will meet at 7 a.m. at the high school tennis courts.

MAHS football conditioning will be held from 7:30 to 12 noon for grades 9-12 at Morris Area Elementary. Football for grades 7 and 8 will begin Tuesday, Sept. 2. Equipment pickup for junior high athletes will be Tuesday, Sept 2. Practices for junior high football will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the high school football field.

Morris Area volleyball for grades 9-12 will practice from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Morris Area Elementary game gymnasium. Practice for grades 7 and 8 will also begin August 11 and will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Bring your own water bottles and indoor and outdoor shoes (for running). Junior high practices during the school year will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the high school.

Athletes are reminded to have a current medical physical on file at the high school office. If a student participates yearly, it is necessary to have this physical examination in seventh and 10th grades. A health questionnaire shall be completed annually by all athletes and could indicate the need for a physical examination prior to participation.

Parents must complete the MSHSL parental forms and pay fees at the Morris Area High School office. Yellow slips need to be given to coaches in order to practice the first day. The office is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
