Prairie Pioneer Days celebrates 25th anniversary this weekend

Prairie Pioneer Days celebrates its 25th anniversary this weekend with a slate of events that, as always, appeals to all ages and interests.

All events for this year's celebration are scheduled for East Side Park in Morris unless another location is noted.

Craft and food vendors will be at the park beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, and at 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 12. Miniature train rides and water inflatables also will be available at the park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The festivities begin Friday, July 10, with these activities:

• 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. -- Morris Public Library Book Sale at Morris Public Library.

• 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. -- Community Supper of hamburgers or brats, served with chips, pop and an ice cream bar.

• 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. -- Stevens County Museum Artist Reception, at the Stevens County Museum at 116 W. 6th St., in Morris.

• 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. -- Kiwanis Talent Show Finals at the bandshell at East Side Park.

• 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. -- Eagles Street Dance, at the Eagles Club at 7 E. 8th Street, in Morris.

The schedule for Saturday, July 11 is:

• 8:30 a.m. -- The Marv Meyer 2, 5, and 10K Walk-Run at the Regional Fitness Center (Check-in at 7 a.m. with the walk-run beginning at 8:30 a.m.). For more information call: 320-589-6485.

• 9 a.m. -- Co-Ed Softball Tournament, at Eagles Ballpark.

• 10 a.m. -- Children's Olympics - Sponsored by Morris Women of Today.

• 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. --Morris Public Library Book Sale continues at the Morris Public Library.

• 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. -- Stevens County Historical Museum Open House, at 116 W. 6th St., in Morris.

• 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. -- 4-H Kids Spot Games and Activities.

• 11 - 5 pm Water Inflatatable Games.

• 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. -- Home Made Jam Musical Entertainment, at the East Side Park bandshell.

• 11:30 a.m. -- Willie's Children's Medallion Hunt, at Pomme de Terre Park.

• Noon to 3 p.m. -- Prairie Extravaganza -- U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Events include: music, wagon rides, and activities. Entertainment provided by Skilly & Duff and Annie O'Flynn with Fiddlin' Sam Steidl.

• 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. -- FFA Kiddie Tractor Pull, with registration beginning at noon.

• 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. -- Pinnocchio - Presented by Prairie Fire Children's Theater, at the Morris Area High School Auditorium.

• 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. -- St. Mary's Bingo.

• 1:30 p.m. -- Monica Ferris, Mystery Author Event, at the Morris Public Library.

• 1:30 p.m. -- Youth Hot Shot Basketball, with registration beginning at 1:15 p.m.

• 2 p.m. -- Rock the Groundz rock music festival continues throughout the day at the Stevens County Fairgrounds.

• 2 p.m. -- Morris Community Band Musical Entertainment, at the East Side Park bandshell.

• 3 p.m. -- 2nd Annual Bello Cucina Pasta Eating Contest - three age groups, Call (320) 589-1242 to register

• 3 p.m. -- Free Movie: "Dances With Wolves" at the Morris Theatre.

• 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. -- Family Feud game. Watch your friends and neighbors feud!

• Dusk -- Morris Eagles Club fireworks, at the Stevens County Fairgrounds.

The schedule for Sunday, July 12 is:

• 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. -- Morris Fire Department Pancake Breakfast, at the Morris Fire Hall.

• 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. -- Stevens County Historical Museum Open House

• 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. -- Classic Car Show, at Mike's Express Lube on Atlantic Avenue, in Morris.

• 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. -- Water Inflatables for the kids.

• Noon -- Footnotes Studio of Dance Performance, at the East Side Park bandshell.

• Noon to 3 p.m. -- Bingo - Sponsored by Morris Seniors

• 1 p.m. -- Kelsey Rae Vocal Performance, at the East Side Park bandshell.

• 3 p.m. -- Grand Parade.

• 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. -- Regional Fitness Center Free Family Fun Night, at the RFC.
