Reflecting on the Hancock GBB season
We ended the season with an impressive 22-4 record and another Pheasant Conference title. We picked up impressive wins over quality schools such as Minneota, Montevideo, Minnewaska, Benson, Battle Lake, Underwood, Barnesville, and Brandon-Evansville.
This was one classy group of girls who truly enjoyed spending time in the gym and with each other. They enjoyed watching game film on a Sunday afternoon, team meals, and other team bonding events.
As always it is hard to say goodbye to our seniors: Lindsie Cunningham, Bree Holleman, and Kaylee Voorhees. These three girls have been little gym rats since kindergarten. They have been extremely dedicated in basketball and straight-A students. They are excellent role models, both on and off the court. The successes and memories at HHS over the last four years include:
1. Freshman year -Runner-Up finish at the State Tournament! (26-4 record)
2. Sophomore Year - One game away from another state tournament trip with a loss to Ada-Borup, which was unfortunately moved into our section. (22-5 record)
3. Junior Year - numerous injuries but another great season with 18-4 record.
4. Senior Year - South subsection runner-up (22-4 record).
5. Four Pheasant Conference Titles
6. 42-2 record on the home court the past four years.
It will not be the same walking into the gym and not having Lindsie, Bree, and Kaylee meeting me at the door with some special ideas about what we should do at practice. I want to wish them all the success in the world at college and hope they come back to cheer on the Lady Owls next season.
Next year: We have a ton of talent returning as we went 9 deep at tournament time and our JV team finished with an impressive 20-2 record. Should be another successful season!!
