On Tuesday, Feb. 12, the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Stevens County will officially get underway as event volunteers and participants gather for a kickoff open house to launch their fundraising efforts for the year.
The open house will take place at Ag Country in Morris with parking and entrance in the back of the building. Past teams and others who are interested in joining are invited to stop by any time between 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The Relay For Life committee will be there to answer questions and provide materials and information. This also will be the first opportunity to register a team for the event to be held on July 19 at Pomme de Terre Park.
Relay For Life began in 1985 with one man who walked and ran around a track for 24 hours and raised $27,000 for the American Cancer Society. This year, Relay For Life will take place in nearly 5,100 communities in the United States and 20 other countries and will raise funds to support the Society’s mission of saving lives by helping people stay well, by helping people get well, by finding cures and fighting back.
