Renowned economist to be featured speaker at ag seminar April 1
Renowned agricultural economist David Kohl will be the featured speaker at an ag seminar Tuesday, April 1, at the Old #1 Bar and Grill in Morris.
Kohl's presentation is titled "Agriculture: The New Normal -- In the Age of Turbulence."
Pre-registrations are due by March 27. There is a cost for the event that can be paid at the door. The fee includes seminar notebook, course materials, a noon meal and breaks.

The seminar will cover the use of business coaches, the youth movement in agriculture, the national economy and Minnesota agriculture.
Registration on April 1 begins at 9 a.m., and the first half of the seminar is 9:30 a.m. to noon. Following lunch, the second portion of the program is 12:45 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Kohl is a leader in establishing guidelines for the standardized reporting and analysis of ag producers' financial information on a national and international basis.
He has traveled more than 6 million miles and has conducted more than 5,000 workshops and seminars for many ag groups, including banks, Farm Credit, FSA, regulators and producers. Kohl has written four books and more than 500 articles on financial and business topics.
Kohl earned masters and Ph.D. degrees in ag economics from Cornell University, and was a professor at Virginia Tech University in ag finance and small business economics from 1978 to 2003. In 1999, he began a three-year leave to work with the Royal Bank of Canada to position it in the ag marketplace. He then resumed his academic career at Virginia Tech and currently is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Agriculture and Applied Economics.
Alternate dates for the seminar are April 2 in Willmar, and April 3 in Mankato.
