Rep. Jay McNamar: How you can make an impact at the Legislature

ST. PAUL -- As we get into the thick of things this legislative session, I wanted to give you an update on how you can make an impact at the Legislature. We’re now getting into time in the session when a lot of bills will be getting introduced and brought up for votes. As I’ve mentioned in previous updates, a few of these bills are my own. But many more of them are not a bill that I personally have written. So in order for me to make smart votes for our district, I want to hear from you and learn more about your opinions.

In the next few weeks, many of the most significant budget bills will be getting discussed in committee and on the floor. And I will be posting updates throughout that process on my legislative Facebook page (www.facebook.com/jaymcnamar), on my legislative blog (www.jaymcnamar.areavoices.com), and in email updates (www.house.mn/12a).These are also great places for you to let me know how you feel about different proposals.

As always, I will continue to meet with people from our district as much as possible face to face. This month I’ve had town hall meetings with Sen. Torrey Westrom and I have many more scheduled for March and April.

As a newly elected Representative, I take great pride in serving as a leader in our communities. And I’m confident that I represent your views at the State Capitol. But I also know that great communication is the only way for me to stay on top of the needs of our district moving forward.

In the next few weeks, we’ll be dealing with some of the most significant issues of the entire legislative session. I strongly encourage you to make your voice heard during the debates that take place, by contacting me however you can.
