Richard (Dick) Kleespies

Richard (Dick) Kleespies was born in Morris on Feb. 29, 1940 to Lawrence and Dorothy (Roles) Kleespies. He attended St. Mary's School and the West Central School of Agriculture. For several years Dick farmed with his father on the family farm and worked as a mechanic in Morris. He moved to San Bernardino, Calif. in 1963 and was united in marriage to Janice Skille on Feb. 27, 1965. They have one son, John Richard Kleespies. Dick worked in the road construction business for many years until he had to retire due to a back injury.

Dick took his family on many memorable trips in their 5th wheeler. They especially enjoyed the peacefulness of camping by the ocean. He also had a love for vintage cars. Dick was very proud of his family and was so excited when he became a grandpa. He loved spending time with his family. After a long illness, Dick died on Jan. 3, 2011 at St. Bernard's Medical Center in San Bernardino, Calif.

Dick is survived by his wife, Jan of San Bernardino, Calif., and his son, John (Stacy) and granddaughter, Jillian of Palmdale, Calif. He is survived by 5 brothers and 8 sisters: Joan (Don) Neitzel of Cottonwood, Ariz., Larry (Shirley) Kleespies of Morris, Vonnie (Mal) Syverson of Wyoming, Minn., Karen (David) Goldenstein of West St. Paul, Kathy (Larry) Blair of Spokane Wash., Marilyn (Robert) Petersen of Wabasha, Jim (Audrey) Kleespies of Alexandria, Bob (Mary) Kleespie of Morris, Susan (Terry) Long of Tualatin, Ore., Mary (John) Matzke of Rochester, Doris Staples of Camp Verde Ariz., Bill (Sue) Kleespie of Morris, and Bruce (Wendy) Kleespie of Portage, Wis. and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, mother-in-law, one sister, Margaret (Margie) Larson, one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
