Robert A. "Bob" Ullrich, 87, of Lake Park, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at St. Mary's Innovis Health in Detroit Lakes.

Bob was born to Marcus and Emma (Kelting) Ullrich on March 27, 1921 in Downer, Minn. Bob attended country school until moving to Lake Park in 1936. From 1942 to 1945 during World War II, he served in the U.S. Army, where he served in the 36th Engineers Texas Division during five invasions in the European Theatre, where he received a Bronze Star. He was a charter member of the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. He was also a member of the American Legion in Lake Park.

Bob married Jessie Nelson on Feb. 28, 1948 in Hawley; together they had six children. Following their marriage they resided in Lake Park, where Bob was co-owner of Bob and Erv's Gas Station. Later he owned and operated a road construction company. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards and operating equipment.

Surviving Bob are his wife of 61 years, Jessie Ullrich of Lake Park; four sons, Cameron (Corrine) Ullrich, Curt (Shelley) Ullrich and Clay Ullrich, all of Lake Park, and Clyde Ullrich of Castle Rock, Colo.; two daughters, Carmen (Drew) McDavid of Detroit Lakes and Cathy (Don) Qualley of Lake Park; one sister, Lucille Seabrook of Pleasanton, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Ullrich of Lake Park and Ann Ullrich of Woodland, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Edwin and Sidney Ullrich; one sister, Gladys Schreiter; and one grandson, Andrew "Tripp" McDavid III.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 27, at Wright Funeral Home, Vigen Chapel, Lake Park, followed with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 28 at Lake Park Lutheran Church in Lake Park.
