Saint Benedict blaze past Cougars

The University of Minnesota, Morris Cougars (4-8) were unable to stop the Saint Benedict Blazers on Friday, March 21, falling 8-0 and 9-0 in a nonconference softball doubleheader. Morris had three hits in the first game and six in the second but could not push across any runs.
The Blazers jumped out to a 7-0 lead early in game one, scoring two runs in the first inning and five in the second. Cassie Sowada was 2-2 in game one to lead the offense. Molly Olson picked up a hit in the game as well.
Saint Ben's pushed across five runs in the first inning in game two and did not look back on their way to a 9-0 win. Jess Gordon was 2-3 in game number two, leading the Cougars at the plate.
Minnesota Morris is back in action Sunday, March 30 against Concordia Moorhead at 2p.m. Sundays game will be the last before UMAC action starts on Monday, March 31 against Crown College.
