Saints stifle Cougars
The University of Minnesota, Morris could not get going on Saturday afternoon and the St. Scholastica Saints pulled away for a 55-7 win. The Cougars held St. Scholastica to just seven points in the first half, but the Saints exploded for 48 points in the second half.
The Cougars and Saints each had 16 first downs in the game, but CSS out gained UM-Morris 481-198. The Saints had 319 rushing yards. The defense allowed five touchdowns and the Saints also added two interception returns for a score and punt return for a touchdown in the contest.
UM-Morris turned the ball over three times assisting the Saints victory. The lone Cougar score came off a fumble recovery by Colin Everson and 40-yard run for the touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
Geoffrey Schumacher had 12 tackles to lead the defense. Cody Hickman added nine and remains one tackle shy of the school record for most tackles in a season. Brendon Foss had six catches for 87 yards to lead the offense last Saturday.
