Memorial services for Samuel Luke Lesmeister, age 22, will be Friday, Aug. 20 at 11 a.m., at the Risen Son Baptist Church in Thermopolis, Wyo. Cremation has taken place. Sam died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010 in an auto accident in Wind River Canyon.
Born Dec. 13, 1987, in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was the son of Lee and Patricia (Mullin) Lesmeister. His family lived in Evanston and Riverton where Sam was homeschooled by his mother until he attended Trinity Lutheran School in Riverton.
At the age of 12, the family moved to Annandale, Minn. where Sam excelled in sports, especially loving soccer. His senior year he graduated from St.Cloud Apollo High School where he had many friends. Attending college at Central Community College in Riverton, he received an AAS degree in Criminal Justice.
While at college, Sam met his girlfriend, Christine Chipala who became an adopted family member.
Sam was employed as a Day Hab Technician at Big Horn Enterprises in Thermopolis, Wyo. Children were drawn to him, as he was ready to play and enjoy life. A blessing to all who knew him, he loved people and was always ready to help.
Survivors include his parents, Lee and Patricia, of Thermopolis, Wyo.; three sisters, Katie Olson of Rapid City, S.D., Laura Varner of Richmond, Va. and Emily Lesmeister of Thermopolis, Wyo., and his grandmothers, Millie Lesmeister and Genevieve Mullin.
