The Hancock All-School Reunion committee and area residents want to say a big welcome to everyone attending the reunion festivities over the weekend. There are many things planned and hopefully everyone will have a great time.
The reunion activities will begin with an alumni golf tournament at Pomme de Terre Golf course in Morris on Friday, July 6. The shot-gun start will be at 9 a.m. The tournament is sponsored by Buddies and the Hancock School Foundation.
Following the tournament, participants and anyone else wishing to visit, are invited back to Buddies. There will be music featuring the five piece band, "Vibe." That night there will also be a DJ, "Wild Thing" at Inn Like Flinn's. Della Conroy and Adair Horgan will be performing a Summer piano duet program starting at the Conroy studeio at 674 4th St. from 7-8 p.m.
Registration tables will be open at the school from 2-10 p.m. on Friday. Classrooms will also be open for classes to meet and visit as well as tours offered.
On Saturday, the firemen will be hold their annual pancake breakfast at the community center from 7-10 a.m. The Lions 5K run/walk will organize at Page Lake at 7:30 a.m. with the race set to start at 8:00 a.m.
Registration and tours will open at the school at 9 a.m. The Little League All-Star game will take place at the Little League field near the school starting at 10 a.m. Community Development Bank will host a coin dig in sand for children between the Little League field and the school starting at 11 a.m.
Stop at Water Tower Park from 11 a.m. until after the parade for food and fun. Several food stands will be set up in this area as well as some inflatibles for children to play in or on. The iiddie parade will be lining up around 12:30 and head down main street at 1 p.m.
The grand parade will start at 1:30 p.m. and follow the traditional route. Classes are encouraged to enter floats with the theme "Past, present and future Owls."
After the parade there are several events taking place. You can move your lawn chair over to Della Conroy's Art Studio across from the ballpark and listen to blue grass music or join in the jam session. The studio will be open from 1-7 p.m. Wed. - Sun, showing art from various artists.
The annual tractor pull will begin at 3 p.m. across from Trico.
Buddies will be holding a volleyball and bean bag tournament after the parade. Sign up at the bar.
At 5 p.m. the reunion supper will be served at the school and is open to anyone wishing to attend. There are a limited number of extra tickets so pre-registration is strongly encouraged.
After the supper, the All-School reunion program will take place in the school gym starting at 7:30 p.m. David Sloneker will be the master of ceremonies and two former teachers, Delores Wiese and Carol Wilcox, will be speaking. Some special awards will be presented and the Community Choir will be performing. A practice for the choir will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 7.
The day will end with a street dance featuring the music of "Electric Almighty" from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in front of Inn Like Flinn's.
The traditional July 4 fireworks will be set off at the Hancock baseball field by the firemen (weather permitting) at dark.
On Sunday, the Christian Reformed Church will be celebrating their 100th anniversary year with a special service at 10 a.m. The LifeRight food wagon will also be in town on Sunday.
