Schmidt leads Cougars to win over Trinity Bible
Behind a double-double from Derek Schmidt, the University of Minnesota, Morris men's basketball team scored a 74-62 road win over Trinity Bible in nonconference play on Jan. 24.
Schmidt tied a season high, scoring 18 points for the third time, while tying a career high with 11 rebounds. Brendon Foss with 13, and Jeremy Burns with 10, joined Schmidt as scoring leaders, while 10 total players scored at least once, and for the second straight game each player saw time on the floor.
Trinity Bible was held to just 35 percent (20-of-57) shooting, including just a 25 percent (6-of-24) clip from behind the arc.
The Cougars recorded a season-high 26 free throws. They went to the line 37 times (also a season high), posting their second best mark of the season at 70 percent. Schmidt led the way with his best career day at the line, making 10 of his 13 attempts
