Second half goals sink Cougars

The University of Minnesota, Morris mens soccer team struck first in the UMAC Championship on Saturday, Nov. 9, but the four second-half goals by the Saints proved to be too much. The Cougars were out shot 18-3 and played down a man for the final 20 minutes of play.
Trent Holmes scored his first goal of the year and his career, giving the Cougars the 1-0 lead in the 38th minute of play. The Cougars went into the break with the 1-0 lead, thanks to a pair of saves by Jacob Borash.
In the 54th minute an own goal allowed the Saints to tie the match up. CSS took the lead in the 60th minute on a breakaway then made it 3-1 in the 63rd minute. After the Cougars picked up a red card, the Saints were able to run out the clock. CSS added a goal in the 89th minute to make the final 4-1.
Minnesota Morris finishes the year 12-9-1 and the UMAC runner-up. Ebrima Badgie finishes his career with 75 points after picking up the assist on the Holmes goal. Badgie is third all time in school history for points scored. His 31 career goals are also third all time.
