Second-half surge by Bulldogs too much for Tiger girls

Paynesville outscored Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta by 13 points to turn the game around for a 59-55 win Tuesday.

The Tigers held a nine-point halftime lead, but the Bulldogs sank seven of nine three-pointers to outscore the home team 41-28 in the second half.

Erika Schlangen led the comeback with 12 of her 13 points coming on four treys. Bryanna Burg hit a pair of three-pointers for 15 points and Andrea Schlangen two more on the way to nine points. Brooke Wuertz hit one trey and ended up with 10 points. Kayla Schaefer contributed eight points and seven rebounds.

The Tigers got 16 points from Hannah Sayles, 12 by Erika Dominik, nine from Beth Holland, and eight by Sarah Kuhn.

With the loss, the Tigers fall back to .500 overall and 2-3 in the West Central Conference South. Paynesville improves to 3-2 in the conference.
