Second phase of Highway 9 project begins
Motorists on Highway 9 south of Morris will continue to encounter delays as crews began the second phase of a resurfacing project Monday.
Construction is being completed in two phases. The first phase began May 12 between Stevens County Road 22 and the Highway 59 bypass. Traffic is detoured to Stevens County Road 22 and Highway 59 through May 18, weather permitting.
The second phase began Monday morning between the Highway 59 bypass and the Stevens/Pope county line. Traffic is detoured to Highway 59 and Highway 12 for about six weeks, weather permitting.
The project also includes resurfacing all of Highway 329, which will require lane closures for approximately two days.
The entire project is scheduled to be completed in early July, weather permitting.
Access to businesses will be maintained at all times during the project.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones. For statewide travel information visit www.511mn.org, call 5-1-1 or log on to www.mndot.gov .
