Klobuchar was joined by local candidates Jay McNamar (House District 12A) and John Schultz (Senate District 12), who both emphasized the importance of getting out to vote.

Klobuchar told attendees that one of the changes she's seen in politics recently is that Republicans have elected more rigid candidates who are not as willing to negotiate or compromise.

"It makes it really hard to get things done," she said, citing the farm bill, which received bipartisan support in the Senate but remains stuck in the House because of internal fighting among Republicans.

"I think it's very important for our country, as we move forward, that we put people in office that understand that courage isn't just standing by yourself and making some speech," said Klobuchar. "Courage whether you're willing to stand next to someone you don't necessarily agree with for the betterment of either your area, your region or, in my case, the country."
