The Morris Area boys' swimming and diving team hosted two meets last week at the Regional Fitness Center.
On Tuesday night the opponent was Detroit Lakes. The Lakers scored 99 points to the Tigers' 50.
There were several swimmers with improved times at this meet, including: Gage Anderson in the 200 freestyle; Sawyer Marthaler and Taylor Hufford in the 100 free; Gage Anderson in the 100 butterfly; Taylor Hufford and Thomas Roberts in the 100 free; Vaughn Dieter in the 100 backstroke; and Mike Rausch in the 100 breast.
During the meet the MAHS seniors were recognized. The Tigers have four seniors this year, Taylor Hufford, Mitch Kill, Matt Lembcke, and Travis Mithun. This is Hufford and Lembcke's first year, Kill's second year, and Mithun's fourth year in swimming/diving.
On Thursday night the RFC was the site for the Western Regional Championship. The Tigers swam against the Melrose/Sauk Center Fusion and the Montevideo ThunderHawks.
This was the last meet of the season for most of the Tigers, unless they made section qualifying times.
With illness spreading across the boys' swim team, there were still a couple boys who improved their times, including Brandon Pry, Taylor Hufford, and Jacob Johnson in the 50 free; Taylor Hufford in the 100 free; and Mitch Kill in the 100 breast.
The next meet for the Tigers is the Section 3A Swimming/Diving meet, which will be held at the Regional Fitness Center Friday and Saturday, Feb. 25 and 26.
