Hancock Owl track sters earning a trip to sections, traveled to Moorhead on May 30. Six athletes participated: Michells Algarage, Olivia Koehl, Seth Nelson, Jordan Miller, Nicole Milander and Lexi Steege.
Michells placed fourth in the discus with a beautiful throw of 139 feet. This was a great way to end a great high school career for him. He also placed eighth in the shot with a throw of 43 feet. He has been a strong contender in both of these events in all his years of track and we will miss him next year on the team.
Another senior participant was Olivia Koehl. This was her second year in a row that she threw at sections. She threw 29' for a tenth place finish. "We will definitely miss her bright sunny attitude next year and her hard work ethic. She has been a great leader for our team" said Coach Lynn Nelson.
Seth Nelson, a junior, ran the 100 prelims with a time of 11.8 and made it to the finals. He finished seventh in the finals with a time of 12.19. He also ran the 200 for thirteenth place with a time of 24.56.
Jordan Miller, a junior, participated in three events at section. He ran the 100 in 12.19. He placed ninth in the 200 with a 24.13. He just missed the podium in the 400 meter running in seventh place with a 52.96.

Lexi Steege, an eighth grader, also qualified for sections in the 200 meter. She ran a good time of 28.08, one of her best of the year.
"I was so proud of these athletes at section and all my athletes throughout the year" commented Lynn Nelson. "Not only are they each exceptional athletes, they are great kids. We had many great practices, meets, and most of all many fun memories. I look forward to the great group of juniors and underclassmen coming up next year and wish our seniors, Michells Algarate, Jeff Peterson, and Olivia Koehl the best."
