The requirement to consider whether an Environmental Assessment Worksheet is necessary was prompted by a citizen petition with 165 signatures that was sent to the Minnesota Environmental Quality Board. The petitioners' representative, Michael O'Reilly, owns land that is surrounded by the proposed commercial development.

The deadline for the board to consider the request for an Environmental Assessment Worksheet is August 2. Environmental Services/Planning and Zoning Administrator Bill Kleindl suggested meeting to discuss the issue on July 31 in case the board needed extra time or information before making a decision.
