St. Mary's to delay start of school until Sept. 8

MORRIS – Due to the amount of work that still needs to be completed, the first day of school for students at St. Mary's Catholic School in Morris has been delayed until Monday, Sept. 8.

In a letter to parents and the community, Principal Joseph Ferriero said it was a "complicated" decision that was made after looking at the work that was left to be done – unpacking, putting in shelving and desks.

"It was the apparent conclusion since our classrooms will not be functional for academic success during the first week of September," write Ferriero.

"I greatly thank you for your support through this difficult time in our school history," he continued. "In the end, this will be well worth the wait.  Our school will have new materials and structurally be the best that is can be."
