St. Mary's Samplings
Kindergarten: It was a review week with the letters and our words that we have had thus far. We worked with addition in math and are pretty good at it. Our Christmas program was magical and put us in the spirit! We heard we sang like angels! All of us here at St. Mary's wish you a Blessed Christmas, and we'll be back in 2012!
Grade 1: We had a wonderful time performing our Christmas Concert on Monday. We did review in reading this week. We are learning how to add tens and ones together in math. We finished up Christmas gifts for our parents. All the first graders at St. Mary's wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
Grade 2: In Reading this week, we read a fun story called Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type. We also learned to spell words with ore and oar letter combinations. We had a fun time making gifts for our parents and participating in the Christmas program. We are all looking forward to celebrating Jesus' birth with our families and taking a little time off from school.
Grade 3: In math we continued to work for fluency with our multiplication and division facts of the 2s, 5s, 9s, and 10s. Our Christmas program was a great success on Monday evening and we thank Mrs. Hodgson for all the work she does to get us ready. We celebrated a reconciliation service with Fr. Bob on Tuesday that continued our Advent journey to the birth of Jesus. Thursday we guessed who our Advent buddy was and found out if we were correct. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and all the best in the New Year!
Grade 4: In reading class this week we started working on a play. Plays fall under the category of drama in genre. The students are fired up about putting this play on when we return from vacation. The students did an amazing job in their Christmas program. We would like to wish everyone a very Blessed Christmas!
Grade 5: In social studies this week we have been learning about explorers like Christopher Columbus, John Cabot, and Amerigo Vespucci. We finished up a unit in math after we learned how to find the circumference of a circle when we know the diameter and radius. We would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!
Grade 6: We spent time this week in preparation for Christmas. We sang carols and told the Christmas story during our program on Monday night, we prepared our hearts by participating in reconciliation on Tuesday, and made ornaments to decorate our trees. We finished our Advent packets, and we found out who our "secret" Advent buddy was. We wish you and your family a Merry Christmas!
