Starbuck man dies after broadside crash on Hwy. 29

An 82-year-old man died Tuesday after a broadside collision on state Highway 29 near Starbuck ejected him from his vehicle, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Walter G. Larson of Starbuck died Tuesday at St. Cloud Hospital after the 1991 Chevrolet pickup he was driving east on Pope County Road 28 collided with a 2000 Buick Century driven by Lajeana R. Johnson, 58, of Glenwood.

Larson was not wearing a seatbelt, according a report on the State Patrol Web site.

Johnson's daughter, Janelle K. Johnson, 17, of Glenwood, was a passenger in the Buick.

The State Patrol reported Lajeana Johnson was taken to Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria and Janelle Johnson was transferred to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

Both were wearing seatbelts. Their conditions were not documented, but were described as "non-serious."
