Steege, Algarate to play football at M State
Austin Steege and Michells Algarate have signed Letters of Intent to attend M State in Fergus Falls and to play football for the Spartans. This is the beginning of what Spartans head coach Steve King hopes is a successful local recruiting season.
"We always want the local student athletes to feel they have an opportunity to compete for playing time here," said King. "We are very happy to have Austin and Michells join our program as local athletes. We have done very well in the area this year and hope to continue to add to the recruiting list."
Steege is a 5'11 - 175 pound Wide Receiver and Safety. He is on the A Honor Roll and was an All Conference selection his senior year in football and his junior year in baseball.
Algarate is a 6'1 - 245 pound FB/LB and was All Conference Honorable Mention his senior year.
"Both these young men will help our team. Steege will fill a need for us at wide receiver and should compete immediately for a starting position," King added. "Algarate has some size and is pretty quick, so he can play a number of positions for us and that will definitely help us. I look for both of them to contribute next year."
M State Fergus Falls is a member of the Minnesota College Athletic Conference. This is a conference comprised of community and technical colleges within the state of Minnesota.
The Spartans will open the 2012 season with a scrimmage at Big Cat stadium in Morris on August 17th.
