Steven Charles McDonnell, age 44, rural Collis, died Sunday, May 9, 2010, at his residence.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 15, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the Assumption Catholic Church in Morris, with Father Tim Baltes officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Beardsley. Pallbearers will be Jim Zych, Tom Zych, DuWayne Bohner, Gene Paulson, Mike Hartmann, and Doug Gunnick.
Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. The Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt, S.D., is in charge of the arrangements.
Steven Charles McDonnell was born July 1, 1965, in Graceville to Charles "Chuck" and Agnes (Zych) McDonnell. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Collis. He attended school in Graceville graduating from Graceville High School in 1984. He then attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, N.D., for two years studying diesel mechanics. After finishing school, he began farming in Leonardsville Township, Traverse County.
On June 5, 1999, he married Amy Gunderson at St. Mary's Church in Chokio. They continued to farm in Leonardsville Township. Using his tooling and machinist talents, he invented many things on the farm. He was also a certified organic farmer.
Steven Charles was a member of the Eagles in Fergus Falls. He enjoyed farming, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Amy of rural Collis; four children, Austin, Collin, Nicholas and Olivia, all at home; mother, Agnes McDonnell of Graceville; three sisters, Marie (Richard) Thorpe of Edina, Joan (Stephen) Kane of St. Louis Park, and Elaine McDonnell-Anderson of Morris.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles "Chuck" McDonnell; and one infant daughter, Laura.
