Stevens Co. Commissioners elect Sayre as board chairman

MORRIS - The Stevens County Board of Commissioners unanimously elected commissioner Larry Sayre to serve as board chairman for the upcoming year at their first meeting of the year on Tuesday.

Sayre is the commissioner for District 4, which is comprised of Darnen Township and Ward 3 in the City of Morris. He will take over as chairman for commissioner Ron Staples.

Before being elected to the Stevens County Board of Commissioners in 2001, Sayre served as Stevens County Sheriff from 1980 to 2001.

Commissioner Paul Watzke was elected vice-chair, and County Coordinator Brian Giese was appointed clerk to the board.
