Stevens County Fair fun kicks off on August 6

MORRIS – The first warm week in August means the Stevens County Fair is coming. The 141st annual Stevens County Fair kicks off next Wednesday, Aug. 6 for a long weekend of fun and activities at the Stevens County Fairgrounds in Morris.

The annual Fair Supper is at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Lee Community Center. The dinner of barbecued pork and roast beef sandwiches  is free with the purchase of a fair button. The Farm Family of the Year, Century Farm, and Emerging Farm Leaders will be recognized during the supper. There will all be a drawing for the grand prize, a trip to San Antonio, TX.

Tuesday is entry day for 4-Hers from 2 to 7 p.m. There will also be a companion animal show at 7:30 p.m.

Wednesday is entry day for Open Class the first of two entry times for Homemakers. Open class entry runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Homemakers entry time is from 7 to 8 p.m.

Thursday is again entry day for Homemakers and judging for Homemakers and Open Class. It is also entry day for 4-H Livestock projects. The 4-H Food Stand and commercial food booths will open at 10 a.m. The 4-H Poultry, Rabbit and Sheep shows will be held on Thursday. That night is wristband night at the carnival.

Several free shows will be located throughout the fairgrounds on Thursday including the All American Lumberjack Show. Tonic Sol Fa will be in the Grandstand starting at 8 p.m. and The Roosters will be in the bandshell starting at 9 p.m.

The 4-H Swine Show starts at 8 a.m. on Friday followed by the Beef Show at 1 p.m. The 4-H and Open Class Dairy Show will be held at noon. The carnival opens at 1 p.m. KB Magic will perform at 3, 5 and 7 p.m. on Stage 1. There will also be a karate presentation on Stage 1 at 8 p.m. The Bluez Brotherz Tribute will play in the Bandshell at 4:30 and 6:15 p.m. Friday evening’s Grandstand entertainment is the JJ legacy Rodeo starting at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the 4-H Livestock Auction will begin at 1 p.m. The Sherwin Linton band will be at the Fair entertaining at 2, 4:30 and 6 p.m. The Enduro race will begin at 6 p.m. in the Grandstand.

Sunday, the final day of the fair, will feature a Community Church Service at 10:30 a.m., the Looney Lutherans at 2, 3 and 5 p.n. in the Bandshell and Footnotes Studio of Dance at 6 p.m. on Stage 1, among other acts.
