Stevens County Farm Bureau earns Outstanding Agricultural Promotion and Education award

Stevens County Farm Bureau earned recognition for Outstanding Program in Agriculture in the Classroom activities during the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) 94th Annual Conference on Nov. 30, 2012.

Stevens County organized an Agriculture Exploration Day for all 8th graders in the county. Students participated in six round robin presentations informing them about agriculture and employment opportunities within agriculture. Presenters included agriculture equipment specialists, representatives from the dairy, pork and ethanol industry, a local foods representative, a meat scientist and a local elevator representative.

The MFBF Promotion and Education Committee recognized county farm bureaus that have held outstanding programs in four separate categories: Agriculture in the Classroom, Farm Safety Education, Promotion and Education and New Program of Excellence. Winners in each category received a certificate and cash award.

Other county Farm Bureaus earning recognition were: Farm Safety Education - Watonwan County, Promotion and Education - Steele County and New Program of Excellence - Meeker County.
