Randy Willis, Emergency Management Director Dona Greiner and Sheriff Jason Dingman accepted the award fromKris Eide, Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Management in recognition for the county's work to develop a critical infrastructure database that is being used as a model for other counties across the state.

The county recently completed a six month initiative to implement a risk based process that helps set goals, identify critical infrastructure, assess risk, prioritize assets and begin the process of implementing protective programs based on what they discovered.

The Stevens County Emergency Management Team hosted workshops and brought public and private sector community stakeholders together to discuss community resiliency and the whole community concept to enhance community awareness and foster community participation.

As a culmination of this effort, Stevens County conducted 21 assessments and three on-site surveys on critical infrastructure assets in the county. The information gathered will help the county better understand its risk as well as the impact that these facilities have on community resilience.
