The Stevens Forward initiative in Stevens County has received a $10,000 grant from West Central Initiative that will be used to bolster Destiny Drivers focused on the retirement community, parks and trails and downtown revitalization.

The award was presented at the Stevens Forward stewards meeting this month.

Stevens Forward Coordinator Carolyn Peterson said the stewards chose areas where the grant would utilized.

West Central Initiative is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and is doing so by providing grants to community-led partnerships that have a positive impact on economic development, community development and philanthropy, said Wendy Merrick, WCI programming director.

West Central Initiative is a regional community foundation serving Stevens, Becker, Clay, Grant, Douglas, Otter Tail, Pope, Traverse and Wilkin counties in west central Minnesota. WCI provides programs and resources in the areas of economic development, community development and philanthropy.
