On Tuesday the Morris Area Stingrays traveled to Sauk Centre to take on the Melrose/Sauk Centre Fusion. The varsity lost 93-65, while the JV squad lost by a score of 93-37.
Next week, the Stingrays travel to Dassel-Cokato on Tuesday and host Montevideo on Thursday at the Regional Fitness Center.
A highlight of the meet was Austin Schieler achieving a section time in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.46. Another accomplishment was a season-best time of 2:19.69 in the 200 medley relay with Roy Reese (backstroke 31.84), Mickey Cotter (breaststroke 43.52), Gage Anderson (butterfly 36.55), and Schieler (freestyle, 27.78).
Meanwhile, the junior varsity team of Jacob Erickson (backstroke 39.40), Brandon Pry (Breaststroke, 43.67), Vaughn Dieter (butterfly 54.07), and Dillon Morehouse (freestyle, 36.01) finished with a time of 2:53.15.
In the 200-yard freestyle, Stefan Lemke took first place with another sub state time of 1:52.39.
In the 200 yard individual medley, Dieter and Mickey Cotter, both swimming for the first time in this event, finished with times of 3:42.81 and 3:50.12, respectively.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Schieler's section time was good enough for second place and he was followed by Morehouse's time of 33.79. In the JV 50 free, Roberto Gameiro swam for a time of 35.39 and Pry cut 1.94 seconds off of his time to come in with season-best 37.22.
Jacob Erickson earned 83.80 points in the one-meter diving event.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Anderson finished with a time of 1:27.40.
In the 100-yard freestyle, Reese swam for a season-best 100.41, while Jason Rinkenberger came in with a 1:19.86 and they were followed by Dieter's 1:31.49. In the JV 100 free, Morehouse swam for a time of 1:21.07 and he was followed by Gameiro's 1:24.96.
Lemke took his second first-place finish of the evening with a time of 5:17.59 in the 500-yard freestyle.
In the 200 free relay, the Stingrays came in with a time of 1:46.33 paced by Schieler (26.02), Reese (29.27), Anderson (28.06), and Lemke (22.98). The JV 200 free relay team of Rinkenberger (34.70), Gameiro (37.16), Mickey Cotter (35.78), and Pry (37.11) finished with a 2:24.75.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Erickson, swimming in this event for the first time, finished with a time of 1:26.17 and he was followed by Rinkenberger's 1:46.76.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Pry finished with his second season-best time of 1:40.91 and he was followed by Mickey Cotter's time of 1:45.80.
In the varsity 400-yard freestyle relay, the team of Lemke (52.27), Schieler (59.21), Anderson (59.06), and Reese (1:07.08) finished with a time of 3:57.62. In the JV 400 freestyle relay, the team of Dieter (1:33.50), Rinkenberger (1:30.40), Morehouse (1:25.48), and Erickson (1:13.30) finished with a time of 5:42.68.
