St. Cloud Apollo eliminated the Storm in double overtime of the Section 6A play-in game Saturday at the Benson Civic Center.
Tied 3-3 at the end of regulation, the Storm and Eagles battled through a scoreless 8-minute overtime to force another sudden-death period. Then the Eagles' Andrew Yaeger sent his team into the play-offs with a goal at the 1:48 mark.
Apollo's Bryan Benson put his team on the board in the first period on a power play.
In the second period the Storm's Tanner Picht tied it up and then Ethan Ratliff-Crain gave MBA a 2-1 lead going into the final frame.
Apollo tied it up again in the third, before taking the lead midway through the period. But, Mac Beyer evened it up again with a goal at 12:34.
Andrew Fath had 45 saves in the Storm's net, while Apollo's Charlie Pentz stopped 37 MBA shots.
