The Morris Benson Area boys' hockey team entered the Christmas break after an 8-1 loss to the Litchfield Dragons on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at the Civic Center in Benson.
With the loss the Storm fell to 3-3 overall and were 2-0 in the Southwest Conference.
A tie game after one period of play, turned into a rout by the Dragons.
Litchfield got on the board first with a goal at the 5:12 mark.
Then Jake Manska of the Storm recorded the first goal of his career when he banged home a pass from Tristan Michealson on the power-play to tie the score with eight minutes remaining in the first period.
The score remained tied despite the Storm having a two-man advantage to end the period.
Storm goalie Andrew Fath made 11 saves in the period while the Dragon goalie Bryce Johnson made four.
The game belonged to Litchfield after that, as the Dragons scored three times in the second period and added four more in the third for the 8-1 final.
Fath stopped seven shots in the second period and 10 in the third for a game total of 28, while Johnson stopped all seven shots he saw in the second and the only two that the Storm could muster in the third for a game total of 13.
The Storm traveled to Breezy Point for a tournament over the break. The other teams participating included host team Northern Lakes, Red Lake Falls, and Bagley/Fosston.
