The Morris Benson Area boys' hockey team lost in overtime to Breckenridge/Wahpeton Tuesday at the Lee Community Center. With the loss the Storm are now 8-5 on the season.
The Blades scored just 23 seconds into overtime to defeat the Storm 5-4.
B/W got on the scoreboard first, but Andrew Rentz, who has just returned to the line-up after an injury, scored with an assist going to Brody Gimberlin to tie the score at 1-1. The Blades answered immediately with another goal of their own just 24 seconds later and they led 2-1 at the first period intermission.
Luke Schwarz scored back-to-back goals for the Storm to open the second period scoring, giving the Storm a 3-2 advantage. Ethan Ratliff-Crain assisted on the first goal and Kelly Engquist on the second. The Storm were then called for three consecutive penalties, with the Blades capitalizing on the final one, once again tying the score at 3-3. Tanner Picht regained the lead for the Storm when he scored with just 10 seconds remaining, assisted by Tyler Hansen.
The third period was scoreless until the Blades scored the tying goal shorthanded and they went on to win, scoring on the only shot on goal of the brief overtime period.
Andrew Fath made a game total of 27 saves, and the Blades goalie stopped 33.
