Storm boys open tourney with 6-5 loss to St. Cloud Apollo

Morris Benson Area opened a holiday tournament in St. Cloud with a 6-5 loss to St. Cloud Apollo.

Kelly Engquist recorded two goals and two assists in the Storm's come-from-behind efforts.

The Storm fell behind early and were down 2-0 late in the first when Engquist scored the first Storm goal of the game with assists from Jordan Staples and Riley Blake.

The Eagles increased their lead to 5-1 within the first six minutes of the second period before Engquist scored at the 12:49 mark, this time with assists from Tanner Picht and Luke Schwarz. A minute later, Brody Gimberlin scored on assists from Darion Helberg and Taner Gimberlin.

The Eagles scored their final goal less than two minutes into the third period. Luke Schwarz scored for the Storm midway through on assists from Picht and Engquist. Helberg got the Storm within one goal in the final minute of the game with assists from Schwarz and Engquist.

Matt Huot stopped 31 shots in the Storm net.
