Storm boys settle for tie at Wahpeton
Alex Sinclair made 40 saves to help the Morris Benson Area boys' hockey team pull out a 1-1 tie with the Blades Tuesday in Wahpeton. The Storm is now 6-8-1 on the season.
The first period was scoreless as Sinclair made nine saves and the Breckenridge/Wahpeton goalie made six.
Tyler Hansen got the Storm on the board early in the second period assisted by Thomas Horecka and Mac Beyer. Sinclair made 11 more saves in the second.
The Blades tied the score at 1-1 with a power-play goal four minutes into the third period and the score remained tied despite both teams getting some good scoring chances. Sinclair again made 11 saves.
Neither team could score during the eight-minute overtime period despite each being given a power-play opportunity. Sinclair came up with a couple of fine saves to keep the Blades off of the board and Hansen hit the pipe on the Storm's best chance of the extra session.
Sinclair made nine more saves for his game total of 40 while the Blade goalie made three for a game total of 17.
