The Windom Eagles avenged an earlier defeat to the Storm with a convincing 8-2 win Jan. 17 in Benson.

Windom controlled the action for the entire game, leading 3-0 after the first period and 6-1 after two on their way to the win.

Andrew Fath started his first game in the net for the Storm and made seven first-period saves, five stops in the second, and four more in the third for a total of 16. The Storm came up with 20 shots on goal for the game.

Scoring for MBA was Juho Luhtakanta with an assist from Peter Lindblad in the second period, and Dusty Sauter got the lone goal for the Storm in the third, unassisted.

Six Storm penalties in the game left them shorthanded far too often in the contest and Worthington took advantage by scoring two power-play goals and they also added a shorthanded goal as well.

MBA 9

Sleepy Eye 0

All three Storm goalies had a hand in the shutout when the Storm picked up a 9-0 win in Sleepy Eye on Tuesday.

Fath stopped 10 Indian shots in the first period, Alex Sinclair stopped the only shot that he saw in the second, and Will Johnson blanked Sleepy Eye on eight attempts in the third.

Tyler Hansen got the Storm on the board 3:35 into the game when he scored unassisted. Hansen then assisted Lindblad on the next MBA goal at the 10:01 mark and Lindblad scored the final goal of the first period with assists from Ethan Ratliff-Crain and Thomas Horecka at 15:29.

The second period was all Storm as well as Sauter scored first with assists from Horecka and Ratliff-Crain at 9:50 and Hansen scored assisted by Lindblad just 16 seconds later. Sauter got the next MBA goal with the assist from Mike Morales at 13:54 and then Lindblad closed out the second period scoring, assisted by Hansen and Brady Valnes at 15:33.

MBA scored both of the goals in the final period, with Lindblad getting his fourth of the night on assists from Hansen and Morales at 7:15. Hansen closed out the scoring by completing his hat trick when he scored on a rebound off a Sauter shot with 5:16 remaining in the game.

On tap for the Storm this Saturday is a 1 p.m. game against Worthington in Benson, a make-up game at 5 p.m. on Tuesday against Breckenridge/Wahpeton in Morris, and the Storm close out the week with a trip to Luverne for a 3 p.m. game on Saturday, Jan. 31.
