The Storm boys won their second game in a row, defeating Windom 5-1 at the Benson Civic Center on Saturday, Dec. 10, in their first conference game of the season.
The Storm got on the board first with a goal by Beyer assisted by Picht at 11:45. That was the only score of the first period.
The second period started with a bang when Windom scored a goal just 23 seconds in tying the game at 1-1. The Storm responded with three unanswered goals in the remainder of the period. Luke Schwarz scored at 9:22 with assists from Taner and Brody Gimberlin. The next goal was credited to Brody Gimberlin at 11:19, assisted by Taner Gimberlin and Schwarz. The third goal was scored by Schwarz at 16:34 assisted by Tanner Mikkelson.
In the final period Schwarz completed a hat trick, scoring his third goal of the game just 20 seconds into the period. Taner Gimberlin was credited with his third assist of the game. Despite peppering Windom's goalie with 16 more shots in the third, the Storm was unable to add any more goals.
Storm's goalie Paden Strutz stopped 27 of 28 shots from Windom, picking up his first win of the season. Helping on defense were defensemen Tanner Mikkelson, Andrew Rentz, Chad Schwarz, Lincoln Paul, Jordan Staples, and Eric Johnson.
Windom's goalie stopped 37 of the 42 shots for the Storm. The Storm forwards amassing the 42 shots were Kelly Engquist, Schwarz, Kirkeide, Beyer, Picht, Brody Gimberlin, Riley Blake, Taner Gimberlin, Bo Olson, and Corey Goff.
