Storm boys win third game in five days
The Morris Benson Area boys’ hockey team won its third straight game in five days Tuesday, defeating Breckenridge/Wahpeton in a back-and-forth battle 6-3.
The Storm took an early lead when Riley Blake scored from Tanner Picht in under two minutes. Picht then put the Storm up 2-0 with an assist from Jordan Staples.
The Blades came back in a big way in the second period, scoring three goals while holding the Storm scoreless, to take a 3-2 lead after two.
Corey Storck quickly turned things around for the Storm in the third period, tying up the game by scoring off of assists from Staples and Mac Beyer in the first 22 seconds. The Storm went on to take the lead on another Picht goal assisted by Brody Gimberlin.
The Storm added two more goals, one by Staples from Darion Helberg and the other a power-play goal by Beyer from Picht and Andrew Rentz.
The Storm outshot the Blades 48-23 with Kyle Kennedy stopping 20 shots.
