The Storm won the shots on goal battle by a 32-23 margin, but Lightening goaltender Joey Bergquist came up with many big saves to preserve the win.

The Storm came out a little flat and the early lapse led to a quick 2-0 Lightening advantage.

The Storm completely dominated the control of the puck in the second period, peppering Bergquist with 15 shots on goal while the Lightening were only able to come up with five. Northern Lakes, however, got on the board first, scoring on their first attempt which came more than midway through the period. The Storm onslaught finally paid off later in the second when Tyler Hansen scored an unassisted goal.

A Tanner Picht goal, assisted by Hansen and Mac Beyer, just 2:15 into the final period drew MBA to within 3-2, but then four consecutive penalties were called against the Storm, putting them shorthanded for almost half of the final period. Northern Lakes capitalized on two of the power plays, making the final score 5-2.

Andrew Fath made 18 saves in the game, while Bergquist had a game total of 30.
