The Morris Benson Area girls' hockey team closed out the regular season with two big shut outs over Luverne and Redwood Valley.
The Storm scored 13 unanswered points at Luverne Saturday to win their 10th straight game.
Dani Schultz scored a hat trick and then scored two more to lead the Storm. Sara Rajewsky also notched a hat trick in the first period of play.
The scoring started less than a minute into the game when Schultz netted the puck unassisted. The Storm added five more goals in the first period. Schultz scored off of assists from Brooke Anderson and Sam Falk; Rajewsky's first goal was assisted by Anderson; and Dani Staples scored with an assist from Rajewsky. Rajewsky closed out the period with goals only 25 seconds apart with an assist from Staples on the first and Anderson on the second.
The Storm slowed down in the second period, scoring only twice. Monica Lindblad scored early in the period with an assist from Schultz. When the Storm were short handed in the final seconds of the period, Schultz got one past the Luverne goalie to complete her hat trick.
Up 8-0, the Storm's Sam Falk added another point from Schultz's pass just 50 seconds into the third period. The Storm added four more goals. The first was an unassisted goal by Katia Vantries; the second goal was made by Schultz with assists from Kelly Mahoney and Sam Falk; the third was scored by Vantries again, this time with assists from Sara Beyer and Moriah Hovde; and the final Storm point came off another unassisted goal by Schultz.
Brooke Falk stopped 16 shots in the game for her fifth shut out of the season.
The Luverne goalies made 14 saves.
Redwood Valley 0
The Storm improved to 18-4 on the season with a 17-0 shut out at Redwood Valley Tuesday.
Sara Rajewsky scored four goals, while both Mahoney and Sam Falk recorded hat tricks. Schultz scored two goals but reached the 150-point milestone in her career.
The Storm scored nine times in the first period. Sam Falk led the barrage less than a minute into the period with an assist from Lindblad. The scoreboard stayed at 1-0 until the 11:00 mark when the Storm shots started flying. Lindblad scored unassisted; Mahoney scored with assists from Sam Falk and Schultz; Schultz scored off assists from Sam Falk and Staples; Sara Rajewsky scored unassisted; Vantries scored unassisted; Sara Rajewsky scored unassisted; Schultz scored off a Sam Falk assist; Sara Rajewsky scored with an assist from Vantries; and Mahoney scored short handed off of Sam Falk's pass.
Sara Rajewsky started the second-period scoring with an assist from Emily Rajewsky; Mahoney scored with assists from Schultz and Sam Falk; Falk scored on a power play with assists from Anderson and Schultz; Anderson scored unassisted; and Abby Knutson scored with assists from Emily and Sara Rajewsky.
In the final period the Storm put up two goals. Sam Falk completed her hat trick with assists from Lindblad and Schultz and seventh grader Morgan DeHann closed out the scoring with Schultz assisting on the play.
Brooke Falk recorded 10 saves for the Storm in her sixth shut out of the season. A busy Redwood Valley goalie stopped 68 Storm shots.
