Storm girls win eighth straight game
The Morris Benson Area girls won their eighth straight game 6-2 hosting Detroit Lakes Tuesday.
The Storm improve to 17-2 on the season. The Lakers are 5-16-1.
The Storm went up 3-0 after the first period on two goals from Dani Schultz and one by Kelly Mahoney.
Schultz added one in the second and another in the third. Brook Anderson gave the Storm an insurance goal midway through the third period.
Storm goalie Brook Falk stopped 32 shots, allowing the Lakers to score once in the second and again in the third.
Schultz's four goals put her season total at 55. With 44 assists recorded, her point total stands at 99.
Schultz leads all players in the state, according to statistics compiled by the Minnesota Girls' Hockey Coaches Association. The next highest point total of 68 is held by Karley Sylvester of Warroad, the No. 1 ranked team in Class A.
Brooke Falk is also listed in the goalie wins column. Her 17 wins puts her in a three-way tie for second, behind the leader with 18 wins.
